This guide outlines the best practices for adding members to WhatsApp groups when using Periskope.

Available Methods

1. Direct Addition

• Administrators can directly add members using phone numbers
• Limited to adding members who have their privacy settings open
• Not recommended as primary method due to privacy considerations

2. Invite Links (Recommended)

• The best way to invite users to groups is by generating and sharing invite links. This is the most user-friendly and respectful approach
• On Periskope, you can add members via link using the Invite to group via link button on the Chat RHS panel:

User Privacy Settings

Users can control who can add them to groups through WhatsApp’s privacy settings:

• Everyone: Anyone can add them to groups
• My Contacts: Only contacts can add them directly
• Nobody: No one can add them directly to groups

To check these settings:

1. Open WhatsApp
2. Go to Settings > Privacy > Groups
3. Select preferred option

Why Some Users Can’t Be Added Directly

• Users may have restricted group additions in their privacy settings
• “Invite-only” mode may be active for specific users
• Some users prefer to manually approve group joins

• Check if they’ve recently left the group (24-hour cooldown)
• Consider sending a fresh invite link
